Wednesday, January 8

As you can see at the top of the screen, we're married! Yay!!

We spent a week in Hilton Head, SC, for our honeymoon, and we had a wonderfully relaxing time. We went to Savannah on New Year's Eve, but a lot of things were closed, so the highlight was visiting a train museum. (They have an old turntable and several train cars... it was cool, and Jack can tell you more about it). We also played some mini golf on Wednesday, which was about the only thing we remembered to take pictures of. The rest of the vacation involved us shopping, eating, or being lazy in our little resort apartment. We seriously missed our cat, and apparently she missed us... the kennel people said she wasn't eating for a while and was having blood in her urine for a few days. =( She freaked out on us during the trip back home and made a mess in Jack's car, but after a few hours hiding under our bed, she was back to flopping on the floor and jumping up in our laps. I think she's happier to be home than we are, but now at least her parents are married and she is no longer an illegitimate child. =)

Life is good. There's not much else to report.

Tomorrow we leave at 8AM to begin our trek south. No cat or email until January 6th or so, no work until January 8th. We'll get pictures up the second week or so of January.

Jack and I just got back from Lancaster tonight... Mom and I planned what pictures we wanted the photographer to take (nothing involving garters, no groomsmen blowing kisses at the bride... all that silly stuff is out the door). We also filled in the info for our wedding announcement in the newspaper, which is going to be very huge due to the size of the wedding party, but I like to surround myself with people I like at important events, so there. So what if the procession is going to last longer than the ceremony?? Hehehe... that's a bit of an exaggeration. Anyway, I feel like almost everything is done now, especially since Jack has his ring and is showing it off to anyone who will look (he wants to wear it now, but I told him he has to wait).

If you've gotten an invitation but haven't replied yet, DON'T FRET! You can actually reply by email to my mom, Debbie Carter. She just didn't want to put that in the invitation, since the etiquette gurus are still out on whether email is proper. And you know how much we care about etiquette... =) My point is, don't feel like you have to find a stamp, which, if you're like me, may be harder than it sounds... you can just email her with the number of people coming from your invitiation, and she'll enter it into her database, and everything will be A-okay. Alrighty, it's time to go spend some quality couch time with Jack and our cat, if she'll stay in our laps long enough. We can always hope, can't we?

My ring is here. The dresses have come in. We met with Uncle Mark, the florist, to hammer out a few more details, and everything else is coming together. We're still missing a few of the addresses for the invitations. Pesky friends who move around and/or we didn't ever get their address in the first place because we took it for granted. So it goes. We also updated the FAQ with a question that we've been getting a lot (mostly from the bridesmaids who want to know who they are up agains, er, walking with)

If you are thinking about staying at the Hawthorne Inn please let them know for sure by November 26th. More details here. Even if you have told us you need a room you will need to call the Hawthorne Inn to make your official reservation. Why not do it now before you forget? I know I would forget... And then Erica's mom would kick my butt! Avoid my fate! Pick up the phone! Call (800) 972-3774 and let them know you'll be needing rooms. Trust me, everyone will be happier this way :)

Well, folks, the wedding planning is coming along swimmingly. We're still waiting on a few important things, like Jack's wedding band and the bridesmaids' dresses, but all those have been ordered and are on the way, at least. Jack and I are trying to get a weekend in October off together so we can come to Winston for various things (mostly visiting Granny and Uncle Mark). I'm still hitting around hair ideas, trying to decide what fun thing I want my hair to do on the big day. I'm thinking of getting it cut short, so I have to decide if I want to do that now or after we get hitched. =) I always have really vague ideas about what to do with my hair, so if you happen to know of a good magazine or website or something I can go to for style ideas, let me know!!!!

Also, if you have a suggestion for a fun oldies dance song we can play at our reception, let me know that as well. We're getting our playlist all squared away, but we're trying to please the whole crowd there, not just our generation. =) I'm thinking of songs like "You're Still the One" by Orlando and "Brown Eyed Girl" by whoever sings that one... fun, with a beat and a positive, lovey-type message. Your song may even make it onto OUR playlist. All suggestions become the immediate property of www.jackanderica.com and cannot be returned.
