my dad's blog. This past Christmas we went home to see my folks and my brother-in-law and I helped dad take the engine out of one of his bikes so that he could get part of the frame welded. Lots of hitting things with hammers and crawling on our knees in gravel on a chilly, but not freezing, afternoon. Fun.
Here's a photo of dad taking me for a spin in the side car back in 2004. More fun!

I looked at your dad's blog too after Erica posted about it. His personality definitely shines through his writing (but I wouldn't have expected anything less. May be he will become an internet celebrity like...well I can only think of knitting internet celebrities. I found myself remembering some of his stories. And then thinking about all the time our parents spent driving us across NC and Virginia. He wasn't riding a motorcycle back then was he, because I was just imagining him showing up at that Baskin Robbins in Greensboro (or was it Winston-Salem? I can't remember) on a motorcycle with a side car to take me to Riner. Mountains were scary enough in a car! Come to think of it, that would have been an awesome story. Now I am disappointed that it didn't actually happen that way. :) I live sort of close enough to the library that I always thought it would be cool to ride a scooter or a mopad (is that right?) to campus, but I don't think I could deal with being on the 4 lane road with the car traffic and crazy buses.
