I woke up last night around 2:30AM, heard Erica take a cleansing breath, and then start her early labor Lamaze breathing. My heart rate jumped to about a million beats per second in an instant and I was wide awake. I waited for the contraction to end so that I could ask her how long they had been happening, how she felt, what she wanted to do, etc.
I waited. And I waited. And then I realized that I heard her sigh and then resume normal breathing as she slept on through the night. It took at least ten minutes to calm down and go back to sleep.
Looks like I'm ready. Bring it on.

Wow! Did she even realize what she was doing? Or was she maybe dreaming about labor and breathing like that in her sleep? It does indeed sound like you're ready, I'm sure you'll be a great labor coach. Looking forward to hearing the good news and finally seeing pictures of this little guy! :-)
Actually, the breathing for the first stage of labor is pretty regular; it doesn't get complicated until the contractions become more severe. Erica wasn't doing anything extraordinary, I was just misinterpreting what was going on.
We'll be glad to provide photos and stories once we really go into labor and bring our son home :)
Today is Day 0? Are you staying home just in case? At least Erica doesn't have to work! One of my co-workers worked up until she went into labor on her lunch break! --Katherine
